In the wake of Putin's unconscionable war against Ukraine, Arlekin launches #Artists4Ukraine — where artists unite to raise humanitarian aid, amplify Ukrainian voices, and support gifted Ukrainian theater artists.

Arlekin launched #Artists4Ukraine just days after the war began in 2022 to engage artists in creating messages and performances for the people of Ukraine, and raising funds for humanitarian aid. Golyak began the campaign with a video from Arlekin's studio outside of Boston, and invited other artists to join. Within days, videos were posted by Hollywood's Mark Ruffalo (Marvel's Avengers), Jessica Hecht (Friends/Breaking Bad), Playwright Sarah Ruhl, the cast of Broadway's Come From Away, musicians, students, and members of Arlekin's resident company. In response, several artists inside Ukraine sent their own videos, including one who left her basement between bombings to share a poem, and another who sang the Ukrainian National Anthem from a pile of rubble.

Humanitarian Aid

To Date, #Artists4Ukraine funds have supported a number of incredible organizations doing humanitarian work in Ukraine, including Rubikus, United Help Ukraine, #Hibuki, Nova Ukraine & Remember Us, as well as providing financial support to local Ukrainian organizations providing buses delivering food and medical aid, hotels supporting refugees at the border, and food relief.

Refugee Workshops

In 2022, Arlekin founder Igor Golyak joined actress Jessica Hecht's organization Campfire, in partnership with IsraAID, traveling to Moldova to do arts workshops with refugee women and children.

Artistic Projects

Arlekin is committed to raising Ukrainian voices and supporting Ukrainian theater artists and continues to produce theatrical productions like The Gaaga and Just Tell No One, work with partners like the Center for International Theater Development (CITD), their Hope Initiative, and the Worldwide Ukrainian Play Readings Project, and we actively collaborate with actors, playwrights, designers, and other artists from Ukraine.

We stand with you.
