Arlekin's A-Lab was born during the pandemic, then called (zero-G) Virtual Theater Lab. Post-pandemic A-Lab has evolved into a hive of experimentation with new and emerging technologies and their use as tools in the creation of theatrical experiences. Known as a global leader for his groundbreaking work in this area, A-Lab artistic director Igor Golyak collaborates with tech partners across the globe to explore the potential applications, networking, integration, and workflows for these technologies, typically invented for use in other fields such as broadcast, gaming, film, robotics, and science. This inventive experimentation, testing, and creative application has resulted in new tools for theater making, discovery and refinement of new design principles, and an ongoing study of dramaturgical implications, all of which come to life through Arlekin's productions, pushing the boundaries of theatrical form, and creating powerful experiences for audiences.
